Amelie Lens’s 11-track debut album AURA arrived on September 4 through EXHALE. It is her first full-length release, extending a career closely associated with techno into album form.
AURA works through a tension between emotion and power, uplift and rawness. That contrast is a more specific guide to the project than a generic claim of reinvention, giving the record a place for those qualities to sit together.
EXHALE remains the release’s label home. AURA’s debut status marks a change in format; it does not require a claim that Lens has left behind the club work that established her.
