At three in the morning, on a red-eye back to New York, most of the cabin was asleep. That was where NevadaSYSTEM began writing the lyric for “Above The Noise.” The scene gives the title its shape: one person awake, trying to find room to think while everything around them keeps moving.

Released April 24, 2026 on VASA Records, the single is credited to NevadaSYSTEM and Qian Qiao. Qian “Dan” Qiao is the person behind NevadaSYSTEM, so the billing joins his name to his artist identity rather than naming two separate acts. Clare Dove sings; Daniel Chouinard plays cello and João Paulo Drumond percussion.

They are familiar names in this catalogue. Dove also appears on “Automatic,” while Chouinard and Drumond are credited on “Rise.” The single continues those earlier collaborations.

The arrangement takes a softer approach, with live winds and percussion alongside the voice. Guzheng and bamboo flute are part of a palette that also includes Serum and analog synthesizers. That combination could be flattened into an easy East-meets-West tag, but it would miss the project’s stated focus on each instrument’s history and texture.

The Nevada in the name comes from Qiao’s predawn drives through the desert, where open space and man-made systems sat side by side. The project describes silence as what lets a flute’s breath or a drum tail register. The flight story feels less like a dramatic origin myth than an extension of the project’s central tension—finding space without pretending the noise has gone away.
